When to Use Collabs?

Collabs are collaborative spaces within workspaces that allow you to organize projects and initiatives involving multiple users and Mates. They are ideal for structuring discussions, assigning tasks, and tracking project progress. By using collabs, you can improve coordination, communication, and team efficiency on specific topics.

Steps to Follow

1. Create a New Collab:
   • Select the workspace to which the collab will be attached.
   • Click on the three-dot icon to the right of the workspace name.
   • From the drop-down menu, select "Create a new Collab".
2. Configure the New Collab:
   • Collab Name: Enter a name for the collab. Ensure it is relevant and descriptive to facilitate collaboration management.
   • Description: Provide a detailed description of the collab’s objective. This description is crucial as it guides the Mates on the objective and context of the collab, in addition to the context of the workspace and information about the organization and collab members.
3. Validate and Create the Collab:
   • Once all information is filled in, click "Validate" to create the new collab.
4. Add Mates to the Collab:
   • After creating the collab, a list of available Mates will appear.
   • Select the Mates you want to invite to the collaboration by clicking on their icons (they will turn black) and then click the "Validate" button to add them.
   • You can also start a collab without selecting Mates and add them later.
5. Interaction in the Collab:
   • Unlike Chats, the first message in a collab does not automatically trigger a Mate’s response. To get an initial response from a Mate, you must actively mention them.
   • Subsequently, the rules of conversation remain the same as in a Chat.
6. Edit a Collab:
   • To edit the information of a collab, click on the "Context" icon (house shape).
   • You can change the name, objective description, or clear the content of the collab. To clear the content or delete the collab, you must be an admin or owner of the parent workspace.

Creating and configuring a Collab is essential for effective team collaboration within GPT Mates. It provides a structured space for discussions, task assignments, and project tracking, enhancing communication, coordination, and overall team efficiency. By carefully defining the Collab's name, description, and participants, you ensure that all members, including Mates, have a clear understanding of the project's objectives and context, leading to more productive and successful collaborations.
