Active and Passive Mentions
In GPT Mates, mentions play a crucial role in structuring interactions between users and Mates. There are two types of mentions: active mentions and passive mentions.
Active Mentions:
- Definition: An active mention is used when you want to prompt a Mate or a user to perform an action, such as answering a question, executing a task, or producing content. An active mention is intended to trigger a response or action.
- How to Use:
- To actively mention a Mate or a user, use the @ symbol followed by the Mate's or user's name. A list of available Mates and users will appear to facilitate selection.
- Example:
- "Hello @Growth Planner, do you have any recommendations for this task?"
- "Hi @Steve Jobs, can you check this document?"
- Representation: An active mention is formatted in blue text on a light blue background.
- When to Use:
- When you need a direct response or action.
- To request help or specific information.
- To coordinate tasks among different Mates and users.
Passive Mentions:
- Definition: A passive mention is used to name a Mate or a user without triggering an immediate action from them. This allows you to give instructions to a Mate to collaborate with other Mates or users without directly prompting action.
- How to Use:
- To passively mention a Mate or a user, use the @@ symbol followed by the Mate's or user's name. A list of available Mates and users will appear to facilitate selection.
- Example:
- "We should involve @@Creatix in the brainstorming."
- "Can you work with @@MarketSpy on this analysis?"
- Representation: A passive mention is formatted in blue text on a white background.
- When to Use:
- To indicate that another Mate or user is involved in the task or conversation.
- To provide contextual information without prompting immediate action.
- To coordinate efforts without disrupting the flow of the conversation.
